Revised: Fuelie: ’73 BMW 2002tii
What is good about Mint is that it can be helpful to readers. One of our readers Tony (see comment) noticed the paint code sticker in the engine compartment. It says it is originally Balkai (Code 042) and not Colorado Orange. Balkai looks like a medium Grey Metallic. That changes everything in our opinion.
The ’73 tii is like the Holy Grail for BMW 2002 fans. It is the last year for round tailights and small chrome bumpers plus it is a fuel injected tii. That makes it a prized piece for any BMW fan. We must say that we like the Colorado Orange color too. This is in potentially pretty rare condition with only 37,000 miles on the clock. Trust but verify. The original selling dealer is one of California’s premier dealers, Vasek Polak BMW. That doesn’t really add anything but it is good to know. It has had a significant period of storage and was revived and treated to an engine rebuild on the original motor. There has only been 2 owners to date and hopefully there is paperwork that survives to support the story behind this one. It is expensive at $29,000 but there aren’t many out there in this condition (Including this one!). Click here for the listing.
This one has been for sale for several months at a stiff entry price. Not quite ‘original’, note the original color – Balkai (blue) and also surface rust in the engine compartment. Sorry to nitpick.
Thanks Tony. That changes everything so I amended the post with a warning. Good catch.
