Real Deal: ’65 Ford Mustang GT
We’ve been watching the Mecum Kissimmee Auction. Mecum is known for Muscle Cars so it is not surprising there would be a ton of Mustangs. We are huge Mustang lovers but very picky when it comes to what flavor we like. For us, it has to be a 4-speed Top-Loader and it needs to be either an A or K-Code V-8. You can keep the convertibles ’cause they do nothing for us. Inspired by Mecum, we did a search for a nice Mustang on Craigslist. Not our favorite place to find cars but Mustangs are always plentiful there. You can’t get any better than a K-Code GT Fastback. They are pretty expensive and prices are going up. If you want to spend less and have almost as much fun, get an A-Code, 4-Speed factory GT Fastback. Bingo. We got one. It is finished in Ivy Green with American Torque Thrust wheels (or something like them). This GT was restored from a dry California car therefore all of the metal on the car is factory. Good. It is an authentic GT with Pony interior and power disc brakes. It also has A/C and that is an option not offered to K-Code spec buyers. The seller is looking for $31,000 and considering the recent restoration costs, it isn’t an unreasonable place to start (the seller says FIRM). Click here for the listing.
