Celebrity owned: ’77 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce
If you scour the internet you will undoubtedly see many Alfa Spiders of this vintage. They are actually pretty decent cars. The good part for aficionados is that they aren’t terribly expensive. The really sought after cars are the early cars we refer to as Duettos. They had a “boat tail” rear end and a nice 1600cc Weber carb engine. Later cars, like today’s, are referred to as Kamn-tails because of their chopped off rear end. It is still a pretty car. But within this category, there are the early cars with small chrome or polished aluminum bumpers versus the shock absorbing rubber units of the later cars. This one has the bigger, less desirable rubber bumpers but they have been modified to look more integrated. You can accomplish this by letting the fluid out of the bumper’s shock absorbers and just pushing them closer to the body. This featured car has original paint and seats with new carpets. It has a ridiculously low mileage of 31,000. It has a nice top, radio and some additional safety upgrades to protect the previous owner. The previous owner added the “illegal” headlight covers to mimic the early Duetto cars of the 60s. It also retains the SPICA injection system and the 2000cc engine. Sweet. This one is much more expensive than normal at $15,500 but it is not any old ’77 Alfa. Click here for the listing.
Reinforcements on this Alfa clearly points to it being a previous race car. Believe not what is written in the Ebay ad.
