Vintage racer: ’65 Porsche 911
This Porsche needs pretty much everything but it could be worth it. And the reason we think so is because it has an interesting racing history from the 1960s. How it got to the US is the easy part. It was brought back by someone in the Armed Services. The soldier had it shipped home after his tour in ’76 and drove it until ’81. He parked it in ’81 until recently. But the history before the serviceman is what makes this special. It was a race car with documented history. And even more interesting is that it had an engine upgrade performed at the factory and documented via a Porsche Kardex. Back in ’68 it was treated to a 911S drivetrain that remains with the car to this day. That makes this a great story car and worth investing some serious cash to get it back in ’68 shape. The seller doesn’t tell us what that might look like but we do know in ’74, it was finished in Orange. The seller is asking $69,500 for a car that will most likely be invited to any sanctioning body vintage race or rally. Click here for the listing.
