Mom’s Ponton: ’57 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet
This immaculate Cabriolet is currently owned by the original owner’s son. Mom purchased the car in Venezuela and the original sales documents remain in the family. That is a rare occurence for any car (happily, our 230S fintail has original documents). In addition to the sales documents, all of the books and manuals that came with the car are present. The Cabriolet was restored 5 years ago using parts purchased at Mercedes-Benz Classic Center. The interior and top were replaced with proper materials (expensive). It has a scant 37,500 miles on the odometer that is believed to be true. In addition to the big things, the Cabriolet has a working tube radio, 2 sets of keys, tool kit, jack and spare. Valuation on these beautiful Cabriolets has been a bit flat lately. Condition-2 cars are still $100 grand and Condition-1 cars about $40,000 more. We suspect this one will land somewhere in the middle of that range. One can’t tell by pictures alone. Click here for the listing.
