Street Racer: ’08 Honda S2000 CR
Many people ask us what contemporary cars might be come collectible in the future. We generally answer that we haven’t a clue. One can imagine that a few limited production cars like a Ferrari LaFerrari will probably be on someone’s list. CNN posed the question to Hagerty and they came up with 10 cars. Here is number 7: Honda S2000 CR. Honda built somewhere between 1,400 and 2,000 CR sports cars. They are special because they have been setup for track use but remain streetable. Many of the cars lack A/C and all of them lack a soft top in favor of a carbon fiber hard top. Sounds pretty cool. Car & Driver tested one back in the day and wasn’t impressed by the tuning. They preferred the standard S2000. But you can’t deny that the limited production might make this collectible a long time in the future. Today’s CR is a rare Apex Blue with 13,000 miles (what kind of miles you might ask). It has a roll cage (no racing belts?) and custom wheels but the seller’s ad says the modifications are extra. This is a fine example of Honda’s true sports car and the CR edition will create a bit of a buzz in the right circles. The asking price is a steep $29,500. Click here for the listing.
For anyone even remotely curious about these cars, we published a great owner interview on our website recently:

The asking price for the example shown here doesn’t seem to be unreasonable per the owner’s comments.
