The road less traveled: ’66 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint GT

Who doesn’t love the design of Bertone’s Alfa Romeo Giulia GT that eventually morphed into the GTV. But many do not know the 2600 Sprint GT came before. The 2600 is a triple carburetor, alloy straight six with a 5-speed that qualified it to be one of the nicest GT cars of the era. No, it wasn’t the fastest but it got the job done in style. We don’t see a 2600 come to market often. They are rather expensive to restore mainly because they aren’t as bare-bones as the sportier and mass-produced GT Giulia/GTV. There is optional real leather all over the place and and a smattering of real wood too. Today’s find came from Sicily and is rather special. The seller claims it is a “time-capsule” car with 90% of the white paint original. The leather interior too is original and has tons of patina. Hopefully it is salvageable as is. The seller says it is totally road worthy and runs well on high-speed roads and in the city. At the time of this writing the auction is at $22,000+.
