Big cat: ’64 Pontiac Catalina
The American buyer readily accepted the ‘64 Pontiac’s’ new, refined design. Pontiac solidly held 3rd place in the sales race. If this was an ordinary Catalina Sport Coupe, you might not be seeing it here on Mint. But it isn’t. Besides it being an unrestored, matching number, 79,000 mile car with only one quality repaint, it has a 389 with 3-deuces and a 4-speed. You can throw in a bench seat to make it even more special. This engine produced a whopping 330hp therefore the selection of Posi-Traction option was a smart idea. The interior is one of those tri-tone examples and it is as we said before, original. The seller says the car looks amazing and we agree. We really like the painted steelies with dog-dish wheel covers. Good choice. It is hard to quibble with setting a high price for a car like this. Clearly $42,990 is a lot of money for any ’64 Catalina but someone might step up for this unique example. Maybe a live auction would be better than eBay. Can’t believe I said maybe…click here for the listing.
