Chicken S**t: ’65 Mustang A-Code Fastback
We are going to catch some flack for this one. Our Ad Hoc advisory committee disagreed big time on this one. But it was 2 to 1 in favor of letting this one go through to the next round (American Idol is on in the background). What the visionaries saw in this one is the possibility of turning it into a really nice event car. Not a GT350 clone but something like a Monte Carlo factory rally car even though they were all notchbacks. Why pay a lot of money for a nice one when you are going that route? The dissenter says it is a repainted rat. We prefer ratty because it is temporary.
What we want for a project like a Monte Carlo car is a solid, rust-free car with a V8 and a factory 4-speed. Since this one checks off those boxes, it qualifies. Yes, it needs an interior but we could have a complete black interior in our shop by Friday. It needs disc brakes, a suspension rebuild, an exterminator and a ton of electrical work. We’ll skip fancy wheels like American Torque Thrusts and stay with inexpensive black steelies just a bit larger for better tire selection. How much do you think that will cost? Almost as much as the purchase price (it is at $16,000 already with days to go). What do you think? Click here for the listing.
