Just have fun: ’52 Allard K2
We love the brainchild of Sydney Allard. He had this great idea and stuffed an American V8 into a British chassis. Okay, so he wasn’t alone in creating hybrids but they were pretty successful on the racing circuit and many were used as touring cars, particularly the K2. The J2 was a successful racer and even finished 3rd at LeMans with Allard himself at the helm. Back to the K2. They made 119 K2s and many of them came to the USA so this being a California car doesn’t surprise us. It has moved around a lot including a stint in Hawaii, Seattle and Toronto. K2s were powered by flathead Fords and they were plentiful. This one has some issues taking it down a few pegs in valuation. Actually, maybe all the way down to condition 4. It has a Ford engine alright but it is from a ’68. It lost its chassis number plate along the way but the Allard Registry has certified it and issued another tag. It was once red and now black but we don’t know what it was originally. If this were a perfect car, it could be worth $175,000. Therefore it is priced at $109,000 and that puts it closer to a Hagerty condition 4 price. If you want a Allard to bring up to bring up to snuff, this one could be it. Flathead Fords are all over the place so you could probably get something period correct at least. Then again, that won’t bring it up that far in valuation so why not enjoy the experience as is…or buy something else. There are a lot of alternatives. Click here for the listing.
