Frog or Bug?: ’58 Austin-Healey Sprite
Who doesn’t love a nice Bug Eye (or Frog eye) Sprite. There are plenty of restored Sprites available but some stand out from others and become Mintworthy. The seller say this is an early car, probably the 683rd Sprite built. That doesn’t change the value but puts it in perspective. What impressed us is the desire of the owner to pay tribute to the Sebring Sprites by rebuilding the 948cc engine in their honor. These aren’t the easiest little sports cars to restore because on the monocoque chassis. It is best to start with a left coast rust-free car. Old English White is just about the perfect Sprite color too. The interior looks nicely done. We will like it better when it begins to wear a bit. It is an auction but the seller says they are open to an outright sale. Click here for the listing.
