Mama Mia: ’68 Maserati Mistral
Maseratis have been playing second fiddle to Ferraris for years now. Although we can understand the allure of a 12 cylinder Ferrari we can’t fully understand why the valuation gap is so big. Here we have a beautiful Frua bodied Mistral with a songstress of a double overhead can straight 6, double-plug engine that will probably sell for less than Ferraris least valuable V12 (365GT 2+2). While you are trying to figure it out, pick up the phone and try to buy this one before the auction ends. It is a keeper. We are big fans of the Frua design mainly because it is so different from anything else out there. Well maybe slightly like a Jensen Interceptor but way better. The interior is glorious although the seller hasn’t supplied a decent photo of this particular car. Our friend Steve owned one for 7-years and says they are a torque monster. Low on rpms but high on grunt. A very pleasant experience. This one is the more desirable 4-liter car that maintains the Lucas Fuel Injection system. This system is said to work better with the 4-liter cars so not to worry. Hagerty has perfect cars selling at $118,000 and slightly lesser drivers at around $100,000. Click here for the listing.

Wow, it’s Maserati Day at Mint2Me and what a fabulous mix. This car is stunning, and I bet that engine’s song is magical.
A few more pictures would have been nice, both for me, the photo collector, and the would-be buyer !
cheers….JeffH
That is a double overhead cam in-line six with Lucus fuel injection….
