Gone fishing: ’51 Studebaker Pickup
Idaho is very kind to motorcars. Frankly, we didn’t know that until our son moved to Boise a few years ago. They don’t use salt on the roads preferring to use the more environmentally correct sand when necessary. The region is home to some of the best fishing holes in the country. Therefore it doesn’t surprise us that an avid fisherman bought this Studebaker new in ’51 and had a canopy installed so he could go fishing in style. The canopies were built-in Montana for the Studebaker with some parts supplied by Airstream. It is one smart looking canopy and makes this Studebaker package a pretty rare find. A sympathetic restoration was performed in the original color and it looks great. The owner swapped out the original 3-speed for a factory 4-speed and a GM 10-bolt rear for some extra low-end grunt. This is a trophy winning truck but we wouldn’t hesitate to get it back to Connecticut and continue the fly fishing rig tradition. Click here for the link.
