Ahoy!: ’50 Sportscraft
Spring is just around the corner. It must be a very long corner because it just doesn’t feel like it will ever come. When it does arrive, you’ll need a good, classic wood boat with an outboard motor. Nothing fancy but it has to be wood. We don’t usually go “marine” on Mint but this one seemed compelling and the $5,500 price sounds good. This is a 1950s Sportscraft mahogany speedboat that has just had all of the wood professionally restored. The wood is mahogany from Honduras and the Philippines. The boat is about 14-feet in length and the seller tells us it is fantastic. It looks like a very basic wood boat and not one of the fancier boats from makers like Chris-Craft. Then again, it is an outboard and $5,500. The trailer does come with the boat. Click here for the listing.
