Spring isn’t in the air…

It’s still cold here in Northwest, Connecticut however we know Spring will come…when it is good and ready. And ready we must be so the M-B 230S aka The Colonel is up in the air at our shop getting the leaking steering box resealed. It has some pretty interesting company. A beautiful ’71 Porsche 911T, a ’84 911SC and, get this – a real live Alfa-Romeo GTA. The GTA is getting suspension components installed so it can get moved around easily. It is a genuine GTA with all the visible rivets and aluminum panels. Alas, none of these fabulous cars are for sale (at this time).

Black horse: ’89 Ferrari 328GTS

A fully serviced 30,000 mile Ferrari 328 GTS in black (Nero) is a beautiful thing. What more can we say? We really like this one because it isn’t Robin Masters’s red (Rosso) (the owner of Tom Magnum’s car) and it has a tan interior. It is new enough to run a CarFax and that will be very helpful in corroborating the seller’s story. Another feather in this car’s cap is the existence of some patina. The seller tells us there are a few chips here and there, a little bit of wear on the leather seats, carpets and some aging in the rubber bits. Read More

You won’t see many Finnies in Sea Green (DB 824) and in this condition. The seller tells us it has been in the same family since new until he acquired the car a short time ago. It appears to be in very good condition with nice chrome. That’s important because there is a lot of it! It has A/C that actually works but sadly perfection is eluded because it is an automatic. That doesn’t mean you should run and hide it means the person who might be interested in this Finnie has no “performance aspirations”. Read More

Early Coupe: ’62 Jaguar XKE Flat Floor

We’ve addressed in previous featured cars, the desirability of early cars versus later cars. Later cars are generally more usable and early cars are more collectible. In this early E-Type Jaguar, we have what Jag folks refer to as a “small mouth” with covered headlamps. Early cars also feature flat floors and external hood latches that require a tool to open. These 3.8-liter cars have leather-upholstered bucket seats, an aluminium-trimmed instrument panel and console, and a Moss 4-speed gearbox with a non-synchro 1st. Who cares isn’t really a question but a statement. This cool Stingray Convertible has a lot going for it but what it doesn’t have is the original engine. Therefore, this is a classic Stingray that you can buy right and enjoy but not have the collector value of some others. If you are a smart buyer who just wants to get out there and wail on it, this is for you. Let your stock portfolio do the appreciation and leave the garage for playtime.

Last year: ’89 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

We typically pass on a listing submitted if the photos are really crappy. We made an exception here. These Mercedes Coupes are one of the longest running Mercedes models in the company’s history. R107s began as 350SLs, then 450SLs, a Euro-500SL, then 380SLs and finally the 560SL. The 560SL was one of the best and collectors are snapping up good, low mileage 560SLs when they come available. They only produced 8,251 cars in 1989. Today’s featured car is Light Ivory with Dark Brown leather. The hard top comes with it as does the top carrier. Apparently it hasn’t seen much use either. The 560SL has accumulated only 57,000 miles and that makes this one very interesting. Read More
