Last year: ’89 Mercedes-Benz 560SL
We typically pass on a listing submitted if the photos are really crappy. We made an exception here. These Mercedes Coupes are one of the longest running Mercedes models in the company’s history. R107s began as 350SLs, then 450SLs, a Euro-500SL, then 380SLs and finally the 560SL. The 560SL was one of the best and collectors are snapping up good, low mileage 560SLs when they come available. They only produced 8,251 cars in 1989. Today’s featured car is Light Ivory with Dark Brown leather. The hard top comes with it as does the top carrier. Apparently it hasn’t seen much use either. The 560SL has accumulated only 57,000 miles and that makes this one very interesting. There are plenty of these R107 Roadsters around but most have close to or over 100,000 miles. The seller tells us it is scratch free and never in inclement weather. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been painted. Hopefully the paint is original. It would still be special but less special with a repaint. One thing we would do immediately is to remove the chrome eyebrows over the fender wheel openings. We’ve actually had the pleasure of doing that on a R107 and it went well and if installed correctly to begin with, won’t leave any marks. The seller is asking $16,800 and that is pretty reasonable. We wonder if the seller is holding something back. Click here for the listing.
This does look like a good one, even with the boring colors and chrome eyebrows.
Looks like a nice example for someone. I find the colors a might boring, but that is my taste.
Local guy has this same car with 11,000 miles on it. Hope the prices keep climbing. Makes my driver condition 88 worth a little more.
