Good start: ’62 Porsche 356B S
In most circumstances, when a car company adds an S at the end of the designation, something good happens. However, with some American manufacturers an S means Special and they probably mean it has vinyl interior or more chrome trim. In Porsche’s case, it generally means more power. A 356B S has a Super engine producing 75 hp. A nice upgrade and very desirable. So desirable, a 356B S Coupe fully restored to original condition with a Certificate of Authenticity recently sold for $126,000 at auction. Some have gone for more I am sure. Today’s find is in very original unrestored condition. It is Heron Gray with red vinyl interior. The interior is in decent shape if you just want to leave this one as is. The paint is okay but no great shakes. Many parts have been blended in to the original color that is still present in some spots. It is nice to see that because it is much harder to hide bad stuff. The engine has been redone around 13,000 miles ago and runs well. Another nice tribute to originality is a complete tool kit, jack and owner’s manual. It too has a Certificate of Authenticity. It is an auction with the first bid set at $35,000. It won’t be there for long. Click here for the listing.
