Second year: ’58 Ford Ranchero
We can hear the announcer’s voiceover on the movie trailer…”Ranchero! A love story about a rancher battling Mexican banditos starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Sullivan.” Some product planners at Ford must have seen the flick back in ’57 when the 1st Ranchero was born. It was a clever and successful move for Ford as the Ranchero became quite popular. We can understand the appeal of having a sporty looking car that is also capable of carrying awkward sized objects on occasion. Today’s find is a Texas truck that has been totally restored. It does have the original motor and a standard transmission and has been refinished in the original colors. The ’58 is the second year for the Ranchero and we must admit to not being that fond of the front end styling of this particular year. But it does have a goofy ’50s vibe. So we don’t judge it on beauty but on coolness. This one looks like a good one and you won’t see yourself coming and going at the local car show. Click here for the listing.
