A Binz: ’64 Mercedes-Benz 190C Universal
The Mercedes-Benz W110/111 Heckflosse was a very successful model for Mercedes-Benz. One might say it is the first “S” Klasse Mercedes. And since they were so popular, Mercedes offered utility versions of them to be pressed into service as ambulances, funeral cars and just plain family station wagons. Today’s find is quite spectacular if you like that sort of thing. It is in excellent condition inside and out. There were a number of Universal manufacturers and this one was built by Binz. This wagon was built for the US market and was sold new to Daum Motors in Wisconsin. The car has had 3 owners, the 2nd owner bought the wagon at the original selling dealership in the late 60s and later moved with the car to Colorado. The wagon was passed down to his son and later brought to Washington State where it has resided since the late 90s. The slug of a 190 motor was replaced by a stout motor from a 230S. That makes it a bit more capable but no rocket ship. It is a truly unusual car and would make a great classic to run errands around town or take on a long journey. Click here for the listing.
