BB: ’74 Porsche 914 2.0 Can-Am Edition
The Porsche Boxster is one of Porsche’s best-selling and widely hailed newer models and the second high volume production mid-engine Porsche. But before Boxster (BB) there was the 914. The 2.0L cars are the best buy and probably the easiest to live with. Porsche marketing folks are big on commemorative editions celebrating a racing series victory or some other milestone. Today’s 914 find is one of a thousand Can-Am Editions celebrating a Can-Am victory. This version of the Can-Am is referred to as the creamsicle because it is white and orange. There is a registry for these rare 914s and this one is on it. It also has a Certificate of Authenticity to go with it. The creamsicle is a low mileage car just recently serviced at 32,475 miles. The service is well described in the listing and leads us to believe this is a turn-key driver right out of the box. Always a California car, it is rust-free with one repaint in the original color. You’ll have to suspend reality when you hear the price. It is a whopping $23,500. That’s not a lot of money for a vintage Porsche but it is for a regular 914 2.0L. This one is rare and in original condition so you need to place some value on that but how much is a mystery to us.. You could buy a used Boxster for less but will it be as much fun?
