Not much: ’86 Porsche Carrera Widebody Cabriolet
The 1986 Porsches are among the nicest later model Porsches to own and drive. They aren’t particularly rare but like any volume producer like Porsche, there are more than enough previously owned examples to consider at any given time. The other neat thing about Porsches are the unique or should we say rare opportunities to purchase an example with a rather rare option. Today’s example is one of those Porsches. It has option M491 or a wide, Turbo-look body. It was not just a look, it has suspension and tire differences unique to the M491 package . An ’86 Turbo-look Cabriolet is a rare bird with probably less than 100 built. A few years later, Porsche would introduce a low windscreen version of the M491 and called it a Speedster (minus the whale tail). The seller doesn’t like to write very much. All we know is that it is a 32,000 mile example that looks pretty good from the photos. STOP. Don’t think the low mileage and nice picture means the car is a slam dunk winner.
