Imagine: ‘63.5 Ford Galaxie 500 XL
The ’63 Daytona 500 was won by Tiny Lund driving a 1963 Ford. Lund drove his number 12 to victory in three hours and 17 minutes. Buy this 406cid, dual quad (4-barrel) red Sportsroof and you’ll get a sense of what Tiny had to deal with to win that race. Okay, so this isn’t a 427cid NASCAR prepared racer but very few of us will ever have the opportunity to try one out. Today’s find looks in pretty good condition with a very typical for the period red exterior with red interior. The interior has a bench seat with a 4-speed and we always think that is pretty cool. Not cool if you have to hang on for dear life on a banked track but sufficient for a stop light grand prix. The seller doesn’t provide any history in the listing nor do we know if this one was born a 406cid or something else. A phone call is in order. The asking price is $32,500. If it is real then it is near the top of the Hagerty Valuation Guide. Click here for the listing.
Except for the clutch and mufflers, this one appears to be pretty much “as delivered” from the factory. I would buy it but I am purchasing another collector car at the moment.
Don
That isn’t a bench seat, in the front. It is a cool car they seem to be asking all the money for. Wish I knew the guy so I could get a ride before he sells it…
