Old School: Early 50’s Hot Rod Racer

Rat Rods have captured the imagination of car people for the past 10 years or so. Of course, the trend started in California with a mission to create new hot rods that look old. One can assume they do that because there are so few original hot rods that have survived. Well, hold on because we have a real winner here with a great story. It is called the Barbeque Stove Bolt because…well because they wanted to. It was built in the late ’40s from what we are told no fewer than 13 different car donors. Back in the day it was something else and was the recipient of quite a few trophies for speed and at hot rod shows. It was stored away for 50 years and it still has some original paint, original air in the tires, a convertible top and side curtains. It isn’t the most attractive hot rod out there and that makes it so very cool. We can’t even tell you what engine it has in it because the parts come from about six different brands and years.
