Rocket ship: ’62 Ford Thunderbird
Born from jets was a slogan misappropriated by the SAAB folks as they spun into oblivion. Yes, SAAB built jets but they used Volvo Flygmotor engines for the most part and somehow that never got into the ads that GM’s agency drummed up. Now a ’62 T-Bird – that is a car born from jets (or rockets). T-Bird fans call them bullet-nose Birds but there is no mistaking that this car was conceived emulating America’s fascination with jets and rockets. Just look at the tail lights elegantly shaped like a jet fighters exhausts. The interior is like a sweeping fighter cockpit. Today’s ’62 is another low mileage original car that the seller tells us has only 37,000 miles. The color combination is typical of the period and the interior has a slight metallic look to the seat covers that we think are vinyl. It has power windows and factory A/C. The asking price is $16,000. A bit above market for sure. Click here for the listing.

61 ThunderBird
Absolutely gorgeous! I was never a fan of ANY model Thunderbird in my youth, but now that I’ve had a few years to appreciate the car, I really like this design, the so-called “bullet bird”.
