Sky Blue: ’78 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

IMG_6879The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the few 4-wheel drive trucks coveted by collectors. Patterned after the Jeep and Land Rover 4-wheelers, the Land Cruiser proved that Toyota could produce a tough multi-purpose platform and not just econoboxes. In production for a quarter century, the FJ became the “go to” vehicle in remote areas of the world. In standard form, they are capable of climbing mountains, crossing deserts, and, well, doing just about the impossible. IMG_6880Today’s exclusive is painted in its original Sky Blue (Code 854) and is totally restored with no expense spared. Just look at the hinges and hood latches! Unlike many, it still has its original 2F, 4.2 liter straight 6. The Land Cruiser also sports 33″ BFG Mud Terrain T/A tires mounted on Baja style aluminum rims, ARB Bull Bar, driving lights and an upgraded suspension (with Old Man EMU shocks we think). The interior is mostly stock and in excellent condition and it is equipped with working A/C. The FJ has some diamond-plate on it and that is typically used to cover up a flaw. Not in this case. This is said to be rust-free everywhere. The seller is asking $43,900 and that is slightly less than the average auction price paid for FJ40s in 2014. Sounds like a bargain here. Call (914)-217-4817 and tell them you saw it here on Mint.IMG_6878
