We love silver Porsches particularly early 356A, B & C Coupes. This one was purchased by the seller at a reputable dealer in San Francisco who is known for finding and offering top quality cars. The current owner keeps the Porsche for weekends only use so the mileage is low at 77,000. It was restored by a local Northern California Porsche specialist and has had some recent maintainance so it could be fly in/drive home ready. Read More

We would wager a guess that not many of our readers would turn down the opportunity to be a Porsche 356 owner (if money were no object). They are well-built, a delight to drive and nice to look at. We think the early A Coupes are the coolest although they are the most primitive of the bunch. On the other end of the spectrum is the C and SC Coupes and Cabs. The wheels have disc brakes, the torsion bars are a little softer, the windows a bit bigger and the bodies were built in-house. The C and SC differ in the engine department. Read More

The big question here is what do you do with this A Coupe? We know what we would do. We would get it running and handling perfectly, make sure everything works great, update the lighting as per Daniel Stern Lighting Consultant and then drive the heck out of it. Then, when A Coupes are totally off the valuation charts, we would do the cosmetics inside and out. The Certificate of Authenticity states this is a Silver Metallic car with Red Vinyl interior. It seems the market has decided what really nice 356C Cabriolets are worth. The number definitely has six figures. There are lesser cars out there with color changes or engine swaps that can be had for way less. In 1961, Porsche farmed out the production of its 356 cars to the Karmann Works of Karmann Ghia fame. Karmann already made 356 Cabriolet bodies as well as regular 356 Coupes. Porsche created a hardtop coupe from its Cabriolet line of cars to help bolster sales. The first of these cars in a T5 body style was in fact a Cabriolet body with the addition of a hard top welded in place. Read More

Janis Joplin loved living large so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Janis would express herself by having a a psychedelic Porsche. Fast-forward to present day – a long time Porsche enthusiast must have grown tired of people not paying attention to his 356SC so he had it wrapped in vinyl simulating the Joplin ride. This 1600 Cabriolet hails from Liberal, Kansas. Not sure if that is an oxymoron or not. The tone of the listing suggests it is a long-term owner although it isn’t stated. The seller says it is a factory white, Reutter-bodied car with all of the proper numbers matching the Kardex. Read More

It seems to be raining 356 Porsches today. This is the 2nd of 3 sent into us from readers. One of our Mint teammates has a similar 356 B Coupe in red and we love just looking at it. We’ve got nothing here. All we know about this 1600 Coupe is that it has been sleeping for the past 30 years. We don’t know the reason for the long term storage but we can assume something blew somewhere and was too much trouble to fix. Valuations have surpassed laziness and it is offered for sale. Read More

In 1964, the 356 was pretty much nearing the end of its run. The 911 was introduced only a year later. There was still demand for the traditional 356 so production continued along side the 911 for a year. The 356C version like our featured car has disc brakes all-around and a powerful pushrod engine. An even more powerful engine was available and those 356s have an SC designation. Read More
