Mercedes Benz typically follows the launch of a new SL with a Coupe version.   The R107 version was quite popular and it sported Mercedes’ first V-8 in an SL. The SLC was a nice, comfortable luxury touring car with somewhat ungainly styling. It had a real rear seat so it was a bit more versatile than the convertible.
