We have to say this looks to be one of the prettiest early Guillietta Spiders we’ve seen. We don’t know for sure, but hopefully it is an original color combination for this car. We know there aren’t any ’75 GTV 2000s but according to Alfa Romeo Storica, this one was built in June 1975 for the USA Market. We know it doesn’t make sense. Alfa Romeo made ’75 GTV 2000s for the European market sporting Dellorto carbs instead of the SPICA system. So we thought this might be a Euro car imported. But you can’t argue with Marco Fazio at Alfa telling us it is a USA market car. The seller says it is in concours condition although further down in the listing he states the paint isn’t. But who cares. This is a great driving car and concours is not really a dynamic activity anyway. You want to drive this one in events or just out for a fun ride. This is a rare opportunity to buy what appears to be a really decent Alfa Romeo sedan. These are amazingly fun to drive and extremely rewarding to drive. This is a car that when you pull it into the garage, you want to back out and drive some more. The “ti” nomenclature referred to a class of Italian sedan car racing known as “Turismo Internazionale”. The 1300ti motor was a 105 series engine, basically that of the sportier GT1300 Junior Coupe with a five-speed gearbox. This jewel is another Alfa from a recent stash found by intrepid car-finder Daniel Rapley. We had the pleasure of a personal tour of all of the cars, some already spoken for, and Daniel got most excited by this early Sprint. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint started as a stop-gap model until the volume sedan was ready to launch. In 1954, Alfa Romeo commissioned Nuccio Bertone to create the coupé version of the new 1300 with a plan to build a 1,000 units. But at the Turin Motor Show in 1954, 700 reservations were booked. It seems like every Alfa Spider between 1966 and 1993 is referred to as The Graduate car driven by Ben Braddock played by Dusty Hoffman. But this one is a real Duetto and may be a distant relative of the car in the movie. It allegedly came from the same dealership in San Francisco that the movie car came from. The name Duetto was given to the new Pininfarina designed Spider through a write-in contest. By late ’67 probably as a 1968, they were called 1750 Spider Veloces. Many Alfisti (Alfa lovers) refer to these elegant Series 1 cars as Boattails. Today’s featured Alfa is ours exclusively. It has recently been rescued from long term storage and the seller hasn’t touched it cosmetically. Really. It hasn’t even been washed. If you ever wanted an Alfa Spider that required a bit of sweat-equity and some additional investment, this is a car you should look at. It is said to be fairly original and it looks it from the photos. But it will require some effort on the new owner to be made whole. The seller says it runs well after sitting since 2001. Vintage racing is a hugely popular sport. It can be very expensive if your car of choice has race history and is very rare. Some sanctioning bodies won’t accept a race car unless it has race history. We applaud the builder’s choice of Alfa’s Azzuro LeMans (Blue) for the build. It looks great. The seller’s listing features all of the racing parts from some of the top suppliers in the business. Shankle, Sparco, Momo, Koni, Facet, Magnaflow; they are all present in this Alfa. the seller says the Alfa was competitive in the VRG and AROC and we don’t doubt it. We should be suspicious of cars that are described by the seller as “runs like a top.” That can’t be good. We mean comparing a car to a spinning child’s toy that sometimes flies off the table puzzles us. By the way, so do phrases like “take it for a spin”. We thought this Alfa looked really nice in the photos. Well someone added an unusual, very British-looking tonneau that is very un-Italian. We were about to give it a glowing Mint-like paragraph or two and then we got a better look at the engine compartment. Read More

This is no “normale” Alfa Spider. It is an “exceptional” Spider. the seller states it has undergone a 3-year no expense spared restoration and it looks like it. We love the black and red color combination and it is unusual for an Alfa. The seller is clear to state that he has spent $65,000 in cash, invested over 1,000 hours of his time plus the cost of the original Spider. Read More

This Sprint has covered a lot of territory in its long and illustrious life. Born in Italy, grew up in England, spent time in Japan and now in the US. Sounds like the life of an Army brat. Nuccio Bertone (Nuccio to his friends) designed the Sprint for Alfa and presented it at The Turin Auto Show in 1954. They didn’t plan on making any more than a thousand. But it was so successful, over 40,000 were manufactured until the end in 1965. Read More
