Let’s talk rare here for a moment. Jensen Motors introduced the convertible version of the Interceptor in 1974 and built 274 cars. Today’s find began life as a yellow car and the decision to go black is a good choice. Vignale was called upon to design the new Jensen and the result was very successful except maybe for the super large rear window. The Interceptor was powered first by a Chrysler 383 and later cars by a 440 V8. The early cars, like today’s find, are prized because they are faster and lighter than the 440 cars. All Interceptors are fully equipped with automatic transmission, polished walnut dash, 8-track player, air conditioning, and Connolly leather. Today’s Jensen looks in fairly decent condition… for a barn find. Read More

Let’s talk rare here for a moment. Jensen Motors introduced the convertible version of the Interceptor in 1974 and built 274 cars. Very few were painted in Black making today’s find even nicer. We have to confess we were not huge fans of the Interceptor Coupe with its ungainly, huge rear window, but the convertible looks great and the paint is absolutely perfect for it. So we are big fans of this car. Chrysler supplied the power for Jensens making it a hybrid (American/British and not electric) and in 1975 it is a 440ci V-8. Not huge horsepower at 375 but sufficient to push the big, luxo-GT along nicely. Read More

Jensen was known for turning out luxurious, bespoke, quintessentially British GT and Touring cars. When it came time to replace some aging models in the late 60s, Jensen turned to Vignale of Italy to style its successor. The result was an undeniably handsome car from most angles. Early cars were powered by a Chrysler 383 and later by a 440 V8.  All Interceptors came fully equipped with amenities like automatic transmission, 8-track player, air conditioning, lamb’s wool seat inserts, polished walnut dash, Connolly leather and head rest pillows.
