We need to get something out of the way upfront. Morgans do not have a wood chassis. The body of the car, the part that people sit in, is made of wood with sheet metal attached to it with screws and nails. If memory serves us, it is a combination of ash and marine-grade plywood. We restored a ’65 Morgan ourselves and with the the help of the same expert who did this one, Larry Eckler, at Morgan Spares. Our Morgan, 5743, was an easy restoration except for the chassis (steel) suffering from swayback or something.
