Yesterday we featured a tattered ’53 XK120 Roadster that needed everything or just needed to get running. Buyer’s choice at around $38,000. We ran across this XK120 Drophead Coupe or DHC and it too isn’t a runner yet. But it is a whole lot closer to being a real driver quality Jaguar and not a rat rod. It is priced accordingly at $76,000 but all you have to do is get this running and you’ll have a very nice Jaguar. Read More

We really love finding cars in this kind of condition. Yes, it needs a full restoration, but does it really? What if you concentrate on getting it running again, where you will likely find the reason for it being parked for so long. How cool would it be if was parked for a silly reason and it was an easy fix? Let’s stay with that for now. So you get it running and stopping with some degree of reliability. This wonderful XK120 OTS (open two-seater) has been in the current owner’s possession for 50 years. That by itself doesn’t mean it is in spectacular condition, it just means you’ll be able to unlock the mystery behind the car more easily. In this case it is simple. A French medical student owned the car originally and when he left Canada in 1960, the current owner purchased it. He didn’t use it much and the 25,000 miles are said to be original. The XK120 was originally intended as a limited-production model, we call them halo cars today, for the new series of sedans powered by the same XK six-cylinder engine. Sales skyrocketed and the XK120 immediately exceeded production capacity. Jaguar replaced the alloy over ash body with an all-steel body, a change that was implemented after the first 240 cars left Jaguar’s factory.
