No more SS: ’48 Jaguar MKIV 3.5
When you have a car company in post-war Britain that has the initials SS, you sort of know instinctively, that a rebranding might be in order. The Swallow SIdecar Company became Jaguar Motor Company. The new Jaguar Motor Company brought the Mk IV to market in late 1945 therefore the Mk IVs are now recognized as the first “official” Jaguar. Like most post-war British cars, the model was essentially the same as the prewar car, with an identical body design for the two saloon and drophead coupe body styles that were offered.
