Better with age: ’84 Alfa Romeo GTV6
We confess to not loving this design back when it was new. But now we have been converted to a true fan. And this ’84, original owner car we feature is a real looker in Anthracite Black Met. Did you know the GTV6 was a successful racing car, including winning the European Touring Car Championship an unprecedented four years in succession (1982–85), the BTCC in 1983, as well as many other racing and rallying competitions in national championships as France and Italy. A Group A GTV6 driven by French driver Yves Loubet won its class in 1983,1984, 1985 and 1986 Tour de Corse round of the World Rally Championship, showing the superb capabilities of the Alfa coupe in tarmac rallies. Motor magazines loved the engine and is quoted by saying the Alfa Busso-designed V6 engine is one of the best sounding engines ever. The British Classic & Sportscar noted it as “The best sounding engine, this side of a Maserati V8”. A grey GTV6 (not our featured car) is featured for a short period in the Octopussy. Bond steals the parked car while its owner uses a pay phone booth and makes haste towards Octopussy’s Circus, where he de-fuses a bomb planted by the villainous Kamal Kahn. Getting back to today’s car…it has a sunroof, working A/C, 84,000 miles, a super looking interior and stand up exterior. The seller states the body isn’t perfect but whose really is? If it passes a PPI, you won’t be sorry you spent $7,995 on this Alfa. Click here for the AlfaBB listing.
