A little of this: ’61 Volvo 544
The creator, owner and seller of this FrankenVolvo has put together a rather nice little hot rodded 544. Hot Rod is a bit of a stretch. If it had a 454 Chevy crate motor, then it would be a hot rod. But it does have more power than when it was born courtesy of a donor ’73 1800ES. The “E” part was tossed in favor of a Weber carburetor. Since he wanted it a reliable daily driver, the 544 was upgraded to a 12 volt electrical system plus alternator. The transmission is a rebuilt M40, the exhaust is new too. The exterior is finished in a nice Dove grey with red wheel accents. Very neat. The interior is a livable place with a rather tidy looking custom dashboard but the seats look flat and uninteresting. The listing clearly states that since it is a daily driver, it does have some cosmetic issues like chrome that is a little less chromy and a blemish or two or three in the exterior paint. But it is a totally built 544 that is a suitable candidate for further tweaking to event car status. We like it even though $10,500 seems a bit steep. Click here for the Craigslist ad.
