A Duetto Project: ’67 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider
We love the purity of the Pininfarina design of the Duetto. Of course it is an iconic sports car due mostly to starring in The Graduate. This one hasn’t covered a huge amount of miles but it was put in dry storage in 1982. It looks like it needs everything but maybe it doesn’t? Certainly the interior needs attention and that is a relatively easy fix. Not a cheap one but the covers are available at a number of sources. The paint could be made to look better but it probably will need to be redone. We would determine what the mechanicals are like before we made any decisions on the body. Actually the seller says it starts and runs well and that is something that needs to be verified. Plan on going through all of the systems and redoing the suspension. All of the rubber bits are probably toast by now. The original Pirellis have survived but under no circumstances would we drive on them. Again, depending on the mechanical condition, we would keep them in case this becomes a preservation class candidate. The seller is asking $16,690 and we can’t say that is a good deal without a full evaluation. Solid, rust free original Duettos are a rare bird so this might be worth a look.
