Outstanding: ’75 Porsche 914 2.0
Take an unmolested 914 2.0 and put it in the hands of a real 914 fan and you get remarkable results. This was an original silver and black car that was brought back to better than new condition. The 914 is clearly the bottom rung of the Porsche world with the exception of an early Porsche 924. Probably some debate about that comment. At least the 914 had a mid-engine layout and had pretty exciting handling although it wasn’t the best looking Porsche ever. But this builder took a sows ear and made it actually pretty cool. The car has received some period acceptable modifications that we applaud. We have to be frank by telling you that we do not love the stripes down the middle but find the side stripes perfectly cool. We love the Riviera wheels and the back dating of the bumpers front and rear to the more delicate, early versions. A big improvement. This is a very active auction and we don’t have a clue where it will end up. But it will probably be worth every penny of the final auction price. The photography BTW is exceptional.
