Magnum P.I. : ’83 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole
We liked the TV series Magnum, P.I. but we aren’t sure it has been the best thing for a red 308GTS. Yes, it made it immensely well-known but has it become a bit of an automotive cliche? Regardless, we are huge fans. The 308 is one of the few remaining “affordable” exotic Ferraris you can buy. It won’t remain that way for long. But, like any car, there are good years and not so good years. The early carburetor cars are prized as well as the rare early fiberglass cars.
Then there are the dark ages of low-powered cars cured in 1983 with the new Quattrovalvole engine. That engine put some of the ooomph back in the horse. Today’s find wasn’t actually too hard to find but it appears to be a pretty good deal if all that is said is true. Thankfully, you can get a CarFax on it if you are serious. It has low mileage, service records (very important) and a nice interior. The asking price is $32,500. Sports Car Market’s latest Price Guide and Hagerty’s Valuation Tools agree that if the CarFax doesn’t show anything bad and if it hasn’t been seriously bent, it might be worth a look.
