Integrated wings: ’59 Ford F100
The Ford F-series pickups are, year after year, top sellers. But some years come with just minor improvements and others come with some big changes inside and out. Today’s find represents a watershed year for the F100. The fenders or “wings” are now integrated into the body of the truck. Be still my heart. But it did make a huge difference in the appearance of the truck. But more importantly it was the first year that Ford built F100s with 4-wheel drive. Today’s find is a fairly low mileage truck at 120,000 miles with a recently rebuilt original motor. It appears to be in pretty darn good shape just like the seller says. It is powered by a standard 292cid V-8 with a manual transmission. Pickup trucks are quite collectible but that shouldn’t drive the decision to check this one out. If you need a occassional truck at your second home or home in a rural area, consider a vintage truck. It is like recycling a beer can or water bottle. Of course, if you need a truck that goes any great distance frequently, then you will be better off making the new F150 the best-selling motor vehicle of 2014. The price is $9500.
