Odd: ’69 Porsche 912 Targa
Cars seem to be coming in pairs here at Mint. Maybe the release of Noah starring Russell Crowe has something to do with it? We elected to feature this one and the Aga Blue Coupe on the same day because this one is just…different. It is a Targa and some Porschephiles like them and some don’t. Even with the “basket handle” or Targa bar, the chassis still has more flex in it than a Coupe. But if you are interested in open air driving, perhaps that doesn’t matter. This is a bit of an odd Porsche color and we don’t know if it is original. If you look at the door jams, it probably is. Could it be special order Lido Gold? What ever it is it has mismatched door paint. It is ever so slight but with these metallic colors and old school techniques it isn’t surprising (if it was done a long time ago). It looks a little crusty in the trunk and some spots on the supplied pan photo and the seller tells us the door bottom has a bit of rust too. The dash looks good although it has an aftermarket ,modern radio. Yuk. Mechanically the seller says it is in good condition and it has been in the care of only 2 owners, one for over 40 years. If you can get past the odd color, this one is interesting. Click here for the listing.
I think you mean staring Russell Crowe
I did…thanks!
