Second Owner: ’71 Porsche 911T Targa
There is something inherently good when the ad says the car for sale has been owned for 40 years. Not so good if it was in storage for 30 of them. But this one looks like a decent driver that has been well cared for. The seller tells us the engine is original to the car and has 105,000 miles on it. It had some recent maintenance like a fuel system service, new tires and a new battery. Wait, doesn’t that sound like it has recently come out of long-term storage? There is a lot to like about this one but with a Porsche (or any car for that matter), you need to look hard to see if the $51,000 asking price is at all reasonable. Frankly, we are still adjusting to the notion that a ’71 Porsche 911T is worth $51,000 but that is another story. Porsches are durable, well-engineered cars but they can be expensive to repair. Another needless remark. We heard tell just today that an engine re-seal on a flat-6 is around $6,000. Click here for the listing.
Looks nice, but…no link?
