Rock & Roll: ’62 Chevrolet Impala 409
Do you think anyone will be moved to write a song about a Toyota Prius? A Prius just doesn’t stir up the same emotion as cars from the 50s and 60s. “Hey little Cobra”, “Little Red Corvette”, “Little GTO” and of course the Beach Boys’ “409” were songs inspired by cars that were exciting to look at, listen to, drive and be seen in. Today’s featured car is just stunning and since we are considered Ford guys by many, that says a lot. Everything about it screams “buy me and I will make you whole.” What else would you want in a car? It’s has a 4-speed, a great motor, fully restored and vetted by numerous shows with awards. The seller says it is a matching numbers car because all of the date codes are in synch. No other paperwork to support it but we are sure one can find a way to verify the claim. It had a sympathetic restoration with a repaint and new interior. It is not a nut & bolt restoration. Don’t really care as long as it is rust free, has good shut lines and goes like a 4-speed 409 should. We like the Nassau Blue paint and the funky bench seat 4-speed layout. Makes it a great date car. The wheel covers and white walls might lead one to believe this is an easy target at the stoplight grand prix. If you can get the tires to hook up, your opponent will have been seriously mistaken. The asking price is $35,000. Click here for the listing.
This car, if as pictured, is amazing, and the seller realizes it is not perfect and is priced accordingly. If only I were in the market for one, it would be off the market and on the road to my house. Best I have ever seen, that wasn’t concourse restored.
