2nd Year: ’68 Pontiac Firebird 400
It didn’t take John Z. DeLorean long to secure a Pontiac version of Chevy’s Camaro. Of course all of that haggling was done with product planners years before either car was introduced. The big differentiator between brands at GM was standard equipment or in Detroit terms – luxury. Therefore the Firebird was more deluxe right out of the box. The engine option list grew year-by-year and you could order a unique to Pontiac OHC 6 all the way up to 400cid in a variety of flavors.
