A different Slant: ’87 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe Flachbau
When we see a Porsche as unique as this one appear on eBay, we are always a bit skeptical. First, let us tell you why this one is special. It is a 930 and that is special all by itself. That means it is a Turbo and they didn’t make that many Turbos in Fraise N4 . And this one has the Flachbau option (M505) available through the Sonderwunschprogramm. We could be nasty and not tell you what that means but we are friends so here it is. Sonderwunschprogramm means Special Wishes Program. That is where your order goes when you specify something special like a Humidor or paint to match your lipstick. Flachbau means Slantnose and it is a unique front end design that emulates the front of the 935 race cars. In addition to the slanty nose, the body received a full aero treatment with wider sills and huge air intakes ahead of the rear wheels. Now the design became very popular with custom shops who made their own versions out of fiberglass. This one, the seller tells us, is real. It is a relatively low mileage car with all of the original documentation in place. It even has a service book stamped until 2009. Our GTI doesn’t even have that. Dealer service managers are a little lazy about that since everything is on computers. We are also told the engine is bone dry. Now in the world of Porsches, that is a really tall statement. Most Porsches seep a little here and there after a while. If it isn’t a bad seep, you can live with it. The interior is special and appears to be in perfect condition. This one has all the right options and is remarkable with a hefty price of $114,000 fitted with the correct factory wheels and not the outrageous Speedlines featured in the pictures. That will seem cheap in a few years. Click here for the listing.
I wish it was 2009 again..
