Rat Cat: ’64 Jaguar XKE 3.8 FHC
Yet another iteration of a Jaguar XKE. Yesterday’s was a full-blown C-Production racer and that looks beautiful in race trim. Today, we found another XKE, this one in unusual condition. It is partially restored but mechanically in driver condition. If you decided to leave it alone for now, you could have a Rat Rod Jaguar. The seller says the drive train was rebuilt years ago but never driven since then. So one can say it is fresh from a rebuild. As you can see it is currently in black primer but in no way is it ready for the factory Opalescent Blue color it was born with. In order to do that right, you’ll have to take this Jaguar apart. The door jams are painted British Racing Green and there are remnants of green all over the place. Jaguar XKE OTS roadsters are through the roof as we mentioned yesterday. The Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) is lagging behind. So what do you do with this one? Well, pass on it is certainly an option. But if you could get it cheap enough and enjoy it as is for a few years, then maybe valuations for Coupes will make the restoration worth it. Unless restoration costs follow valuations and then you are sort of screwed. A completely done Coupe is still a $100,000 plus car. Click here for the listing.
