Real deal: ’66 Volvo 544 Sport
This is the real deal because it is being offered by the Cascadia Classic’s eBay account. If you recall, last week, someone hijacked a previous listing of theirs. It is a really nice 544 Sport that looks like a turn-key, fun car. Not a perfect concours event car but who cares anyway. It is a 2-owner car, originally purchased new in Oregon and then spent 28 years in the high desert of Boise, Idaho. Both friendly climates for a rust-prone Volvo. These later 544 Sports handle pretty nicely as is and can be improved further with not a lot of effort. The engine is Volvo’s trusty B18 connected to a bullet-proof 4-speed. It was refinished in a similar color to original but not exactly. Not perfect but it looks pretty respectable. Same applies to the interior. We aren’t experts but it does not appear to us to have an original style interior although it doesn’t look out-of-place. It looks like a nice place to sit and enjoy the ride. The period roof rack is just too cool. We might tart this one up a bit with mandatory rally lights and a stage 1 tune-up (ie: remove the wheel covers). An interesting and desirable car that is gaining in popularity and respect. Click here for the listing.
