Elegant Diesel: ’80 Mercedes-Benz 300CD
What a special car this is. Mercedes-Benz has a rich tradition of building low volume Coupes and Convertibles. The practice seems to have waned a bit but as recently as the ’80s, M-B had some cars that were virtually hand-built. We aren’t talking Rolls-Royce hand-built but cars that moved down the line a little slower than the others. This Coupe is in a special color that you won’t see everyday and the interior is also quite remarkable. But let’s tie this into yesterday’s longroof M-B 300TD post for a station wagon because they are both Diesels. This one has a long list of maintenance items and original equipment making it a very impressive and special Coupe. It has 89,000 miles and that is probably a drop in the bucket for this well maintained Mercedes. Is it collectible? Probably in 20 years or so maybe longer but what a great daily driver it would make right now! Let’s say the seller gets the asking price of $24,000 plus, what would you rather have? You could have a nice VW Golf TDI or some sort of Toyota. But this is a Mercedes. Need I say more? Click here for the listing.
That color is English Red,if you can believe it!
