Agent orange: ’73 Volvo 1800ES
Earlier in the week we featured an automatic BMW 2002. They made them back in the day so there must have been some sort of demand for them. Less so in the collector car world but the interest isn’t zero. It is just less. We found this 1800ES equipped with working A/C and guess what? An automatic transmission. Truthfully, it feels less offensive in this car than it does in a BMW 2002. The 1800ES was never considered a real sports car, but more a sporty GT car for 2 people. They are very capable cars and enjoyable to drive. Don’t take our word for it just ask Irv Gordon. If you don’t know who Irv is go to the google. This example looks amazing in ’70s orange with black leather interior. The seller believes the interior may be original but if it isn’t, it was done over with proper materials. They did replace the dash pad with an OEM piece. The car is equipped with a factory roof rack, original sound system and restored original wheels with trim rings. If everything works like they say, this is just a really nice, pleasant vintage car you can enjoy even in summer down south. The asking price is $21,900 and that sounds about right for a turn-key 1800ES. Actually, it sounds like a good deal. Click here for the listing.
A nice looking car, unfortunately it’s equipped with an automatic transmission and that usually doesn’t translate as a bonus feature on these.
With all the photos taken, one would think the seller could have managed to take a few of the underside of the vehicle he is trying to sell.
