Sweet spot: ’72 Jaguar Series III XKE V12
The Series III V12s represent the end of the line of the historic Jaguar XKE. Jaguar went to the V12 because it couldn’t make the venerable inline-6 work with stringent emission regulations. The first V12s in the Series III provided a slight increase in power with less weight. Quality issues scare people away from these remarkable cars but modern technology came to the rescue and these Jaguars are routinely tamed in the hands of a knowledgeable specialist. This example is a real stunner in British Racing Green with Biscuit interior. It has been with the same owner for 32 years and relationships like that don’t last unless the owner really derives great pleasure in owning the car. The Series III is a stylish convertible with a powerful V12, working A/C and a 4-speed manual transmission. Be aware the ’72 has the tasteful front & rear chrome bumper treatment without those unsightly rubber things. It was treated to a comprehensive restoration and used sparingly since. If this was a Ferrari with similar specifications, it would be close to a million bucks! We’ve seen these go for upwards of $85,000. For more information contact the seller at (914)217-4817.
