Desert wind: ’81 Volkswagen Scirocco
Oh how we pined to have a VW Scirocco back in 1981. We worked at VW/Porsche Audi back in the day and they were the company cars every one wanted to borrow from the press pool on the weekend. Well, truth to tell, we owned a dark blue or Cobalt Scirocco with tartan plaid interior. Oh, was that a cool car. Actually it was an earlier version –’76 we recall. Italy’s Giorgetto Giugiaro penned the design and it is timeless.
We don’t see many survivors like today’s find so we deem it Mintworthy. It is an import with a scant 76,000 miles on it. The seller has maintenance records from new and a ton of paperwork. It has a new timing belt and a new set of Bilstein Touring shocks. Most importantly it is wearing its original Sand Beige paint. Click here for the listing.
