More Roger Moore References: ’67 Volvo P1800S
It seems every Volvo P1800 seller trumpets the appearance of the car on The Saint starring Roger Moore. From what I remember of the story, the producers wanted a Jaguar XKE but they were in so much demand, Jaguar declined. Volvo smartly jumped at the chance. When you think about it, The Saint’s Volvo is probably one of the most famous TV cars. Comment on which one you think is the most popular. Kit, General Lee, Route 66 ‘Vette, Honey West’s white Cobra? We met Andy Reid from Classic Motorsports Magazine at Lime Rock. He was driving his beautiful white P1800 that has been restored in his care. As he told us, he had the advice and guidance from the Three Million Mile Man, Irv Gordon, when he searched for a P1800S. With all of that knowledge behind him, he still had a project bigger than expected. We tell this story so that you be wary of nice, pretty, saintly P1800s. No matter how good they look, you have to be careful. Unless of course, Andy decides to sell his beauty. What is good about this car is that it is said to be a 1-owner California car. That is no guarantee it is rust-free since that seems to be an impossible feat for an P1800. But maybe it wasn’t so bad before it was painted. We would definitely talk to the body shop who performed the paint to see what condition the body was in. It is said to run well and have relatively low mileage. So if you want to re-enact an episode of The Saint, this may be the one. The asking price is $17,500. Click here to contact the seller.
